Going Abroad Essay
At the point when I was a lesser understudy in secondary school, I got an opportunity to venture out to Canada for a month. This outing was so exceptional and furthermore meddled with my investigation later on. The city I went to is Vancouver. This spot is a simple and agreeable spot to live. The climate is as warm as spring. I disregarded my folks and lived just because. I lived with a neighborhood homestay. They were benevolent to me, and the lady was warm to the point that we despite everything have contact at the present time. When I arrived, they went to the air terminal to meet me, and they hold up a board. The board said welcome to Canada in Chinese! I was significantly contacted. During that month, I took the class with different understudies who originated from other secondary school in China. There were four instructors who originated from Canada neighborhood secondary school, showed us Canadaââ¬â¢s history, government, custom and dealt with us at school. During the clas s, we likewise examined the distinction and comparable among China and Canada. I saw that I ought to come out of the nation and see the entire world. We likewise had a standard dealt with the entire group. The group simply preferred a smaller than expected school. After class, the educators and standard turned into the vacationer guides. They drove us to visit the entire city. I had been to downtown to do some shopping, went outdoors and surfing also. The most intrigued thing was the three-day outdoors. I never attempted that sort of outside movement previously, so I was so energized the day preceding we leave the homestay. The lady helped me arranged my gear and admonished everything that I have to focus. On that day, the gathering set out towards to the goal, the Greentree Park. Following two hours driving, at long last we arrived. The zone of outdoors was opening ground with a lot of pine trees. It ought to have a great deal of oxygen around us. After rest for some time, I began to set up a shelter. Before I went out, the instructor previously showed me how to set up, yet I never did it. At the point when I got the materials and the heading, I started to assemble it, and of cause this was difficult to wrap up without anyone else, so I ask my companion, Mary for help. We spent a huge measure of vitality, and the tent was been assembled at long last. At that night, I dozed in the tent, and through leave, I could see the sky was studded with twinkling stars. The sky was so delightful and tranquil. I likewise could hear somebody singing outside and voice was so sweet. It ought to be the absolute best scene I have appear. Rest of the day, I went through occasions with companion, draw an image of what I had appear, and grilled a great deal of chicken for supper. It was such a great amount of fun back then. After this excursion, I generally notice it in my examination when I conversed with individuals. I am happy to such an extent that I can get this opportunity that can open my viewpoint. I can find out about the other nation and acknowledge various societies. That can make me progressively certain and increasingly vivacious.

AHHH CPW!!
AHHH CPW!! CPW. Campus Preview Weekend. MITs admitted students weekend sponsored by MIT Admissions during which hundreds of prefrosh from around the world gather for the first time together in one spot to go up to random upperclassmen and say I am prefrosh and then get blasted with free food, swag, and all sorts of other goodies. Ah, I miss those wonderful prefrosh days. I made some of my best friends during CPW, and IM SO EXCITED THAT IT IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!! Undergraduates just got their prefrosh assignments last Friday, and I am so happy to officially say that my friend Victoria will be staying with me!!! Although Victoria and I planned for me to be her host prior to Friday, most people were matched by admissions with a prefrosh that fit their profile, and everyone was super excited on Friday to find out who they were going to host and where they were from. I have to be honest to the prefrosh many of you were stalked on facebook by eager MIT students, excited to reach out to you and find out all about you to maximize your experience when you come here. For example, my friend Neerja A. â16 came into physics today really excited about her amazing prefroshâs glass blowing skills, and lots of other undergrads are really impressed by the awesome skills you all have. We have prefrosh, and that makes us happy :) It is helping us get through this tough week, and we are so excited to see your faces in just two days! All of this prefrosh CPW preparation really got me thinking back to my own CPW. It was filled with food, dyed hair, parties and more, and I remember it like it was just last weekend, even though so much has occurred since then and I feel like a very different person. I remember exploring the tunnels with my new friends including Emma S. 16, Anthony P. 16, and Jake I. 16. Iâm still great friends with all of these people â" Emma and I get lunch about once a month to catch up on things, Jake lives down the hall from me, and every time I see Anthony around campus I get really excited. CPW buddies really can become long-lasting friends. CPW really was one of the greatest weekends of my life, and I am so thankful for having the opportunity to attend the event. I had the best time ever with my new friends and my new home and so many welcoming undergraduates and faculty that would do anything to make us happy and have the desire to go to MIT. After CPW, I knew that I was going to MIT. If you cant go to CPW, no worries! Orientation week is just as great, just a week long instead of only one weekend. But try your best to go to CPW or to at least do an overnight visit before then; visiting MIT is one of the best experiences ever. My favorite events at CPW included smashing things at East Campus, laser mazes at Epsilon Theta, sword fighting at Simmons, and liquid nitrogen ice cream at Random Hall. Now, Im going to highlight some of the events Im involved with for this CPW, and which ones I HIGHLY recommend that you attend. Im involved in: Campus Tours If this is your first time on campus, come for a tour of campus! Us tour guides will be doing quick 30 minute tours where we talk about student life and tell you some stories about ourselves and MIT. It is a great opportunity for you or your parents to ask questions to current students at MIT. Also, every dorm will have personal tours throughout the day so that you can take a look at each dorm. I am doing a couple tours of East Campus on Saturday, and I hope that I can give you a good idea of what itâs like to live in East Campus. Who knows, maybe you will even get to pet a cat :O You should probably inform your tour guide of any pet allergies before the tour begins. ANYTHING EAST CAMPUS Spoon Making, Hair Dyeing, Grilling, Painting, Milk Hero (Like Guitar Hero but with milk), Tesla Coil Singing, Soldering Seminars, Rock wall climbing, etc. MEET THE BLOGGERS COME MEET US FRIDAY APRIL 12th AT 9PM IN THE STUDENT CENTER!! East Side Water Wars We have shields. Make a sword beforehand and beat senior house!! They may have bouncy balls, but we have more prefrosh. Sports and Athletics Midway Ill be there with the pistol team, come say hi! I would also recommend: Tours of UROPs Tours of Freshman Learning Communities SEE EVERY SINGLE DORM go to at least one event in each dorm. It will help a lot when youre deciding where to live in a few months, trust me. Liquid nitrogen and RHOP at Random hall I know it may seem far away, but go anyway. Pancakes. CPW Prefrosh Welcome SO MANY GREAT THINGS. Last year, Jake and Rachel N. 16 sang disney songs during this. It is a great bonding opportunity with your class, try your best to not miss it! Firehose classes They say that when you go to MIT, you learn so much information in such a small period of time that it is like trying to drink water from a firehose. You should totally try this. Go to Firehose, and take incredibly interesting classes like Phsyics Until We Die and learn physics until you cant physically or mentally handle physics anymore. Mad Hatter Tea at Senior Haus They have really funky hats. Do something relevant to your potential major If you are undecided, go to a seminar on learning about the majors. I went to the Materials Science information session during CPW and got a really cool keychain. And I also got super excited about polymers. Tire Swinging at Senior Haus Whats the point of going to a campus preview weekend if you dont go home with a bunch of scrapes and bruises to prove that you had a great time? Association of Student Activities Midway â" This is a great event where over a hundred student groups set up booths and give out tons of cool stuff!! A full list of the CPW Schedule is here. There are so many events and I know that it is hard to decide which ones to go to, but once you come here you will be able to pick and choose and try to fit as much as you can into the short amount of time that you are here for CPW. If you miss something, then there is always orientation or even the rest of the four years that you are here at MIT to try that activity or go to a similar event! My advice: Aim for less than 10 hours of sleep the entire weekend Dont pay for ANYTHING (except for maybe MIT clothes like a sweatshirt or fancy pants, I still wear my MIT sweatshirt I bought at CPW all the time). Go find free food!! Dont just do academic things Itll be great to go to a class, but the purpose of this visit is to see what it would be like to be a student at MIT. We dont just go to class here. We build things and destroy things and search for free food. Donât bring homework Forget about school and home and just let loose and surround yourself in the craziness that is MIT. You are only a prefrosh once, so soak it all in and let everything be awesome. Stay away from your parents There are plenty of events just for parents so that they get their own feel for how you will do at MIT. Sure, its nice to maybe meet up with them for lunch one day or call to say hi, but they will not be with you everyday when you go to college, and this will give you a feel for what that would be like and the type of person you would be away at college next year. Do ALL THE THINGS!! See all the dorms, because if you choose to come here then you will be living in one of them and it is really hard to decide between them! Try to go to as many activities as possible, and try to talk to as many upperclassmen as you can to get a feel for what it is truly like to be an MIT student. GO DO ALL THE THINGS PREFROSH!!!! GO GO GO!

It reminds me of a young philosopher who is questioning why bad things happen to good people. Surely it is chance, but what Hardy is hinting towards is what if it is a bad thing only because we THINK it is a bad thing? It is almost circular. I do not know much about Hardy but what I do know is that he tried really hard to believe in god but in the end, he came out completely agnostic. This poem shows that struggle. ------------------------------------------------- ââ¬Å"Hapâ⬠is a poem by Thomas Hardy (1840-1928) that he wrote in 1866, while working as a trainee architect, and for which he could not find a publisher. It did not reach the general public until 1898 when Hardy included it in his first collection, which was entitled ââ¬Å"Wessex Poemsâ⬠, which only appeared after he had concluded his career as a highly successful novelist. The poem is a sonnet, although it is presented as three stanzas in that the traditional octave is split into two stanzas each of four lines and the sestet is a stanza on its own. The rhyme scheme is ABAB CDCD EFEFFE, which is a variant on the Shakespearean form, although the clean break between octave and sestet is more associated with the Petrarchan sonnet form. The poem can be seen as Hardyââ¬â¢s reaction to the basic thinking that underlies Darwinââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"The Origin of Speciesâ⬠which had been published in 1859. He asks himself, why should he have taken all this risk just to put Banquoââ¬â¢s heirs on the throne? Unsatisfied with just ruling himself, he plots to kill not only Banquo, but Fleance. His ambition has grown and become even more menacing.Banquoââ¬â¢s murder without consulting his wife because he wants to protect her from the corruption that he has involved himself with. His role is now completely changed and there is no turning back for him. Macbethââ¬â¢s evil deed causes him to suffer from fear and guilt, which leads to even more evil crimes. Then Macbeth becomes paranoid, suffering from hallucinations and sleeplessness. He becomes less human as he tries over and over to establish his manhood. His ruthlessness in killing Banquo and Macduffââ¬â¢s family shows how perverted his idea of manliness really is.As Macbeth goes off on his own course during this time, Lady Macbethââ¬â¢s guilt is overwhelming and, cut off from him, she descends into madness. Her guilt emerges in Act III, Scene ii when she says she would rather be dead, and it grows from then on until her death. Lady Macbethââ¬â¢s character change is also evident in Act III, Scene ii when she backs out of Macbethââ¬â¢s mysterious murder plan and tells him, You must leave this. The relationship between the couple is being torn apart by this time. And Macbeth allows the witches to take the place of his wife by allowing them to boost his ego, thinking he cannot be harmed by any man.Macbeth is, of course, mistaken about the witchesââ¬â¢ prophecies, but this just that he now allows his evil nature to control his actions. By the end, Macbeth has degenerated into evil personified, totally inhumane When Macbeth first receives the prophecy predicting he will be king and Banquoââ¬â¢s heirs will be kings, he is satisfied with the idea of being king. Banquoââ¬â¢s heirs do not concern him at this point. Once he assassinates Duncan and is crowned king, however, this isnââ¬â¢t enough. Now he wants his heirs to be king. He asks himself, why should he have taken all this risk just to put Banquoââ¬â¢s heirs on the throne?Unsatisfied with just ruling himself, he plots to kill not only Banquo, but Fleance. His ambition has grown and become even more menacing. in his actions. They are headed in separate directions ââ¬â Macbeth towards a life of evil and Lady Macbeth towards insanity and grief. As Shakespeare developed the characters of Macbeth and his wife, their changing roles ironically ended up resembling the other oneââ¬â¢s role. At the beginning of the tragedy, Macbeth was the hesitant character with a strong conscience, respected general, a devoted husband, and a loyal subject of the king while Lady Macbeth was powerful and firm. However, by the time these two characters were completely changed, Macbeth ended up being decisive and greedy, as Lady Macbeth turned out to be weak since her guilty conscience drove her insane. Shakespeareââ¬â¢s exchange of roles in Macbeth is clever yet unusual, but after all, things arenââ¬â¢t always what they seem. In Shakespeareââ¬â¢s tragedy, Macbeth, the characters and the roles they play are critical to its plot and theme, and therefore many of Shakespeareââ¬â¢s characters are well developed and complex. Two of these characters are the protagonist, Macbeth, and his wife, Lady Macbeth. They play interesting roles in the tragedy, and over the course of the play, their relationship changes and their roles are essentially switched. At the beginning of the play, they treat each other as equals. They have great concern for each other, as illustrated when Macbeth races to tell Lady Macbeth the news about the witches and she immediately begins plotting how to gain for her husband his desire to be king. At this point, Lady Macbeth is the resolute, strong woman, while Macbeth is portrayed as her indecisive, cowardly husband. He does have ambition, but at this point, his conscience is stronger than that ambition. Lady Macbeth explains this characteristic of her husband in Act I, Scene v, when she says, Yet do I fear thy nature; it is too full oââ¬â¢ thââ¬â¢ milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way. The next stage of change developing in the characters of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth is in Act II. This is the act in which Macbeth kills King Duncan. Macbethââ¬â¢s character change is apparent because it is obvious that he has given in to his ambition and has murdered the king.He is not entirely changed, though, because he is almost delirious after he has committed the crime. He exclaims, Will all great Neptuneââ¬â¢s ocean wash this blood clean from my hand? No; this my hand will rather the multitudinous seas incarnadine, making the green one red. He believes that instead of the ocean cleaning his hands, his hands would turn the ocean red. Macbethââ¬â¢s role has changed somewhat but not entirely, since he has committed the crime but his conscience is still apparent after the murder. Lady Macbethââ¬â¢s role similarly changes somewhat in Act II.The reader sees a crack in her strong character when she tells Macbeth in Scene ii of Act II that she would have murdered Duncan herself if he had not resembled her father as he slept. Her boldness is still evident, though, when she calms Macbeth after the murder and believes a little water clears us of this deed. Unlike the roles of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, their relationship remains unchanged from Act I to II. Their relationship is still very close as seen through Duncanââ¬â¢s murder ââ¬â a product of teamwork. At the end of Act III, both the roles and the relationship of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth have reached the final stage of their change. Now that Duncan is dead and Macbeth is hopelessly headed toward a life of immorality, Lady Macbeth fades into the background. Macbeth takes it upon himself in Act III to plot Banquoââ¬â¢s murder without consulting his wife because he wants to protect her from the corruption that he has involved himself with. His role is now completely changed and there is no turning back for him.As Macbeth goes off on his own course during this time, Lady Macbethââ¬â¢s guilt is overwhelming and, cut off from him, she descends into madness. Her guilt emerges in Act III, Scene ii when she says she would rather be dead, and it grows from then on until her death. A Closer Look At High Risk Youth Essay Example For Students
A Closer Look At High Risk Youth Essay It is important not to overreact to isolated incidents. Young people will have problems and will learn, at their own rate, to struggle and deal with them. But it is critical for parents and helping adults to be aware of the factors that put a youth at particular risk, especially when stressful events begin to accumulate for these vulnerable individuals. A good starting point for identifying and intervening with highly troubled and depressed young people is the careful study of suicidal adolescents. Family history and biology can create a predisposition for dealing poorly with stress. These factors make a person susceptible to depression and self-destructive behavior. ? History of depression and/or suicide in the family? Alcoholism or drug use in the family? Sexual or physical abuse patterns in the family? Chronic illness in oneself or family? Family or individual history of psychiatric disorders such as eating disorders, schizophrenia, manic-depressive disorder, conduct disorders, delinquency? Death or serious loss in the family? Learning disabilities or mental/physical disabilities? Absent or divorced parents; inadequate bonding in adoptive families? Family conflict; poor parent/child relationshipsPersonality traits, especially when they change dramatically, can signal serious trouble. These traits include:? Impulsive behaviors, obsessions and unreal fears? Aggressive and antisocial behavior? Withdrawal and isolation; detachment? Poor social skills resulting in feelings of humiliation, poor self-worth, blame and feeling ugly? Over-achieving and extreme pressure to perform? Problems with sleeping and/or eatingPsychological and social events contr ibute to the accumulation of problems and stressors. ? Loss experience such as a death or suicide of a friend or family member; broken romance, loss of a close friendship or a family move? Unmet personal or parental expectation such as failure to achieve a goal, poor grades, social rejection? Unresolved conflict with family members, peers, teachers, coaches that results in anger, frustration, rejection? Humiliating experience resulting in loss of self-esteem or rejection? Unexpected events such as pregnancy or financial problemsPredispositions, stressors and behaviors weave together to form a composite picture of a youth at high risk for depression and self-destructive behavior. Symptoms such as personal drug and alcohol use, running away from home, prolonged sadness and crying, unusual impulsivity or recklessness or dramatic changes in personal habits are intertwined with the family and personal history, the individual personality and the emotional/social events taking place in a persons life. It is not always easy for one person to see the whole picture. Thats why it is essential that people who have hunches that something is wrong take the lead to gather perspectives from other friends, family members and professionals who know the young person. It is all too often true that the survivors of an adolescent suicide only put the pieces together after the fact, when they sit together and try to figure out what happened. How fortunate a troubled young person is to have a caring adult take the initiative to look more closely before something serious happens! The University of Minnesota Extension Service has two additional publications that can be helpful:? Supporting Distressed Young People (FS-2786), by Ron Pitzer? Helping Friends in Trouble (FS-2787), by Joyce WalkerSeveral common themes run through these two. First, young people must learn and practice coping skills to get them through an immediate conflict or problem. Coping strategies must emphasize self-responsibility to find positive, non-destructive ways to find relief. Second, communication skills are important. This involves being able to talk and selecting a good listener. It is important to express feelings, vent emotions, and talk about the problems and issues. Peers are good sympathizers, but it often takes an adult perspective to begin to plan how to make changes for the better. Third, young people need help to learn problem-solving skills.
